Volunteers are important to the success of Arte Americas

Along with paid staff, volunteers are our greatest assets in accomplishing our mission to make the valley a flourishing place for Latino arts. As a nonprofit organization our
volunteers form a very important part of our team. We are seeking individuals who
appreciate and have an interest in the arts, enjoy working with the public and are
excited about sharing their knowledge.

For more information on volunteer opportunities or to volunteer for special events,
please call (559) 268-6130 or download the volunteer application by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page and submit it to relations@arteamericas.org with the word “volunteer” in the subject line.

La Tiendita Volunteers

Volunteers are needed to staff our store called La Tiendita. As a volunteer sales clerk
you are responsible for selling merchandise, totaling bills, accepting payments and
making change for customers. The sales clerk is responsible for handling all transaction
accurately and courteously. Email your application to relations@arteamericas.org with
the subject heading “La Tiendita Volunteer”.

Receptionist Volunteers

Reception support is always needed (answering phones, greeting visitors at the door,
filing, organizing, and keeping records). Receptionist volunteers normally come on a set day or days every week for a half or full day.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

Preparators: We some times use volunteers as assistant preparators to
assist the curator, particularly during exhibition changes or special projects.
Special Events: We regularly need help with Special Events such as our
annual Summer Concert Series or other outdoor events like our monthly
Mercados.
Special Skills: If you have special skills such as plumbing, electrical,
maintenance, grant writing, social media, bartender, artist/workshop instructor and would like to help out occasionally or as needed, please consider letting
us know.

Interns

Arte Americas has used volunteer interns from local colleges and universities
in the past. If you have an interest in becoming an intern, please submit a brief
resume and cover letter with a description of what you would like to do during
the internship and the weekly or hourly commitment you are able or required
to make. Also include the class, school, and the name of the instructor you will
be working under. If we are interested, we will follow-up with a contact to set a
date/time for an interview.
