Dive into a workshop that explores diverse writing techniques in Spanish, English, and Mixteco. Learn about song structure, creative processes, and the art of rhyme. Share your work and experience the power of poetry and rap in a supportive space. We’ll wrap up the evening with a special performance by Una Isu!
Don’t miss it! Miguel Villegas Ventura, also known as Una Isu, is known worldwide for his innovative trilingual rap music combining his native language Mixteco, Spanish, and English that covers topics such as Indigenous languages and his lived experience as an Indigenous (Mixteco) migrant. His internationally recognized song “Mixteco es un lenguaje” made a huge impact within the Indigenous language movement, demanding the recognition of Indigenous languages as formal languages rather than just dialects. Una Isu advocates for the preservation of Indigenous native languages through his music, workshops, and activism.
